Camping Trip

Over Memorial Day weekend, we took Ryland out for his first camping trip. We went up to Bear Lake with my bothers Chris and James and their families and my sister Jenny and her husband. It was so nice to get out camping again after a long winter! Here are some of the highlights from our trip! Ryland did really awesome. He slept great in the tent.We made sure he stayed warm with his clothes, "snuggie" and hat.He didn't make a sound until 5 in the morning the first night. The second night it rained so he had a harder time sleeping. Lance and I put him in bed with us and he slept great again after that. Such a good baby! We made a great breakfast Saturday morning and headed out to see Minnetonka Caves near bear lake. Too bad they were closed for the winter still, so we found a nice campground to have lunch and hiked to blue pond spring. Not much of a hike (more like a casual 100 foot walk) but it was pretty.
Then we headed to the beach of Bear Lake. Just our luck....it started raining about 15 minutes after being there.
My brother James and brother in law Trevor did get to take a dip in the freezing lake before we left though. My nephew Eric followed them right out there until he got about waist deep and realized how cold the lake was. He was so excited to get out swimming I don't think he minded at all. Trevor carried him back, he thought it was great fun!
We had a pretty good down pour so we went and got the "famous raspberry shakes" while we waited for the rain to pass. We got to eat in this special little wagon. :)
The sun came out again so we went to the park and had some Napoleon Dynamite style tetherball games. We felt pretty sweet! :)
The rain cleared for the rest of the evening and we got some good quality time with bocce ball and sitting by the fire.
We made it to bed and about midnight the rain came and didn't stop until we got up that morning. Thankfully it rained the hardest while we were trying to sleep. We packed up our soaking wet tent and headed out Sunday morning. It was such a fun trip and we can't wait to go camping again!

Yay for camping! You make me so proud taking Ryland camping at a young age, I want to be the same way! (We'll see if I chicken out or not when the baby comes).

I loved all the pictures, I'm just sorry it rained so much! Hopefully you still had a good time.
