California Dreaming

This last week Lance and I took a much needed and a way fun vacation to California. Here are a few of the highlights from our trip....We stopped in Mesquite on our way down to spend a couple days with Grandma and Grandpa. Lance and I went and saw Harry Potter while they watched the little man. That was pretty sweet.
We headed to Newport Beach after Mesquite and stayed with Lance's sister Marie. Naturally since we were in California we had to eat at the California Pizza kitchen. Here is Lance and Ryland with his sister Marie and James.
Ryland had his first ride on a carousel. He thought that was pretty cool.
And he was able to meet his cousin Wendy and her daughter Morgan. They had a good time feeding him! :)
We had so much fun at the beach with Marie.
Ryland was happy as a clam to sit in his bumbo on the beach. He was loving it!
Unfortunately the waves were so huge we couldn't get in the water for most of the day. We did dip Ryland's feet in the ocean for the first time as you can see in this movie.
Most of the waves were taller than I was. It was insane how huge they were. Check it out in this movie.
We were finally able to get in later in the afternoon. Lance and I got our boogie board on. That was way fun. We can't wait to get back to the ocean to do that again!
We then headed on to San Diego for the main event of our trip. Lance's sister blessed their baby Adelaide. We were able to spend a couple days with them and had so much fun. Adelaide is such a sweet, adorable little baby. We are so greatful she is a perfectly healthy little girl after her scary first couple days of life.
We just wanted to hold this little burrito all day. She loves the swaddle wrap. As Luke, her dad, would say, "don't mess with the swaddle". It is clearly some serious business there! :)
She is so tiny compared to Ryland. Here is a movie of them together....so cute. She was pretty hungry so as you can tell from the movie, she wasn't too happy to be laying on the floor! :)

Here is us after church. Ryland just looked so adorable, I had to get some pictures. Ryland loves his daddy, they look so cute together in this picture. I love it!
My little Ry-guy and I!

Such a handsome baby!
Here is Brenda and I at their lunch after the blessing. Adelaide looked so cute. As you can tell, Ryland was pretty tired, and didn't want to leave California!
Ryland was all tuckered out after we got back to Mesquite. He was enjoying some relaxing time with his Grandma Jo before we headed home.
We had such a fun trip. It was so nice to get away and not have to worry about anything for a whole week. I think that is probably the best part of vacation. Congrats on a beautiful baby girl Brenda and Luke. We were so glad to share your special day with you and finally meet Adelaide. We can't wait to see ya'all again!

4 Months!

Ryland had his 4 month check up yesterday. Wow, time is flying by. He is getting sooooo big too. He now weighs 16 pounds 9 ounces and is 25 1/2 inches tall. He is very well rounded in the 75% tile for his age. Everything looked really great except for his small flat head issue. Yes, my son has a flat head! :) They want us to take him to a specialist to have them look at it and see if he needs to be fitted for a helmet to help fix the shape of his head. Yikes, that doesn't sound like too much fun but it is better to fix it now then wishing we could fix it a couple years down the road. You can't tell he has an issue unless you are looking at the back of his head and know what you are looking for. It isn't too bad so we can't decide if we should try and fix it on our own by changing his position and not letting him lay on the same spot of his head that he is ALWAYS on. Does anyone have any experience with this? Is it worth fixing? The only reason you do fix it is for looks. It has no effects on his brian or development, it is all just to make him have a well rounded head. Oh man! You can kind of, not really, but kind of see the flatness of his head in this picture. It is his left side that is flatter than the right. He sleeps just like this only with his head turned sideways to the left.
Let me tell you why we believe his head ended up like this though. He is just such an awesome baby and has slept from about 9:00 pm to 7:00 am straight since he was 7 weeks old. He then will wake up to eat, play and goes back down for a nap at 9:00 until 11 or so. That is a lot of sleep for a kid, and don't get me wrong, we love it, but every time he sleeps it is in the exact same position, on the same side of his head. Maybe that is my bad for letting him sleep in the same position every time he sleeps...? :) So we will try and switch the position he sleeps in and hopefully we can correct it on our own. If not, helmet head here we come. Apparently it is a 23 hour a day thing for 4 to 6 months, ya, not to excited about that. We will see what happens though. Until then, happy 4 months Ryland, we love you!
This is how I lay him down all the time now. I am scared to make it worse! He doesn't like it so much so I am sure he will get better at rolling over soon!
Look at those thighs, how can you not just want to squeeze those! And see, you can't tell from this picture he has a flat head! Thats right!

Time for a Trim

We gave Ryland his first haircut...or um...trimish, sort of ya, today. :) He had these really long hairs that he has had since he was born and they have just kept on getting longer and longer. So we decided to trim those straglers off and make it a little more even. Ya, we didn't cut much at all, but it looks so much better to not have those little fly-aways! He didn't mind at all. :) Here are a few pictures.
Before, you have to look close and notice the fly-aways. He had some crazy long ones in there!
During....
After, so cute!
Here is us at the farmington festival days fireworks. What do you guys think, does Ryland look more like Lisa or Lance? We can't decide, I guess he has a pretty good mix? Leave us a comment with what you think....

And last but not least, how can this not make you smile?!? So cute, he does this pretty much everyday now. It is so fun for us. Such a happy baby!

Fourth Festivities

This is what we spent our long weekend doing....We took Ryland swimming again on the 3rd. We got him a new swim tube so he could just float around. He loved it and had so much fun staring at his Daddy and floating the lazy river. It was really hot and steamy at the pool this time. When I pulled out my camera to take pictures, this is how they all ended up because it was so steamy in there.  Sorry it isn't exactly too clear!
Lance and I ran in the Centerville 5K on the 4th. We loaded Ryland up in the running stroller and took him along with us. I won't say we did way good, because I am still working on losing that "oh so fun baby weight", but it was fun and a good start to getting back into shape!
Ryland went to his first parade, he started out sleeping but woke up halfway through to see what was going on. Such a little stud in his sun hat! He didn't really care much for the parade, maybe next year!
We went to a BBQ at Chris and Maria's that night with my family. Yummy food as usual! Nothing beats a BBQ on the 4th right? Sorry, no pictures of that though. :) And then we took Ryland to see fireworks that night. Here we are hanging out waiting for it to get dark.
Family Photo. Yes I know, I am a dork, we are wearing matching flag shirts! Ah...how sweet.
Lance brought some snaps for the kids to throw while we were waiting for the fireworks to start. They had fun with those!
Becky Jenny and I with Ryland and Becky's girl Kira. Kira and Ryland are 6 months apart and love to stare at each other and grab each others faces while they are close! So fun!
Ryland loved to stare at the fireworks but he didn't last too long.
Going...
Going.....
Gone! :)
We had a great 4th and hope you all did too. What a great holiday to just enjoy the great outdoors!
