What's New

I have been slacking on my posts lately so there is a lot to update on the little man. Ryland got his first real shiner last week. He met the coffee table at our friends house. You should have seen the coffee table! :) Poor guy, he surprisingly only cried for a few minutes and it hasn't bothered him since. Here is a picture the day after it happened, unfortunately the pictures don't do it much justice. Someday I will have an amazing camera.....:)

It looked a little better a couple days later and now it is gone! Yeah!

He also discovered he could climb between the couch and the window yesterday. Super....! He loves being outside and this was as close as he could get because it was raining. He and Baylee had fun looking out the window together!

Ryland also got his much needed 5th haircut! Yes, 5 haircuts since he was born. I loved his long hair and we considered giving him the "california dreaming" look by letting it grow out longer but we decided it was time for a cut and I am glad we did it. He looks closer to 5 years old now, but hey not much we can do about that! :)
Before the big cut

During... so maybe he didn't cry like this the whole time, but he wasn't all smiles that was for sure!

Look at all the hair we chopped off!

After. We had a small mishap while trimming around his ears and he received a small battle wound....

What a cutie, bandaid and all!

Ryland was also able to finally meet his new cousin McKaylee on Saturday. They are going to be great friends! She is adorable! Congrats JT!

And last, but not least, this is what happens when you have church all morning and little lander sleeps only for 30 minutes; he thinks he doesn't need a nap the rest of the day.

We let him cry it out in his crib for a few minutes hoping he would realize how tired he was. In his defense, we are attempting to take away his pacifier instead of waiting another year for him to get even more attached to it. He has done really well the last 3 days, but I am sure he would have gone down much easier today with it. I am just happy he managed to fall asleep without it, snot and all running down his face! We might have a few more naps looking like the above picture, but I am good with that! :)

Eclair Cake

Recipe for eclair cake just for you my friends!

Cake
I box of graham crackers
2 boxes instant french vanilla pudding
3 1/2 cups milk
1 8 oz container frozen whipped topping, thawed

Frosting
1 1/2 cups confectioners sugar
1/2 cup cocoa
3 tablespoons butter, softened
1/3 cup milk
2 teaspoons light corn syrup
2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract

Butter bottom of a 13 x 19 pan. Line with whole graham crackers. In a bowl of an electric mixer, mix pudding with milk. Beat at medium speed for 2 minutes. Fold in whipped topping. Pour half the pudding mixture over graham crackers. Place another layer of whole graham crackers on top of pudding layer. Pour over remaining half of pudding mixture and cover with another layer of graham crackers.
For frosting, blend together sugar and cocoa. Add butter and milk mixing well. Add corn syrup and vanilla. Stir until creamy. Cover cake with frosting and refrigerate for 24 hours.

Enjoy! Seriously, this is delicious! You can't go wrong with this cake, just try not to eat the whole thing on your own in one sitting. :)

Some much needed SUN

This last weekend Lance and I went to Mesquite to spend some time with his Mom and Dad down there but also to enjoy some warm weather. It was super nice down there and we weren't complaining with temperatures in the 80s! Ryland especially loved being able to be outside so much. We first made a stop in Elsinore on Friday to go to Natalie's wedding reception they held there. The drive down had a lot of this...

Some of that...

And an incident that included Ryland throwing up his cheese pizza one mile before we got to Elsinore! But we reached a big milestone in the small town of Salina when Lance's care mileage went from this

To that!

Pretty crazy!! It has been a great 100,000 miles and here is to at least 100,000 more...right...please!?! :)
We had a great time at the reception down there. It was fun to get all dressed up in matching clothes again!

Love this picture of Brian and Ryland!

We finally made it to Mesquite late friday night. We had a great weekend full of relaxation! Lance and I let Ryland get some quality grandparent time while we went and saw Iron Man 2. It was a good movie, mostly it was way nice to enjoy some time together! :) Thanks guys!
Ryland had mixed emotions about playing in the pool. He didn't mind playing on the outside of the pool but once we put him in it, he didn't want to sit down and wanted to get out as quick as possible! It was pretty funny.

He did however love splashing at the side of the pool as you can see in this video.

Ryland also enjoyed chasing this ball all over the patio.

And playing with Grandma Jo's coasters.

We had a great weekend playing games and enjoying time together. Thanks for letting us come and enjoy the sun!

Thanks to my parents for making Lance a birthday dinner and cake yesterday when we got home. He requested the best eclair cake ever for my mom to make and boy did she deliver! So good...does anyone want the recipe? Here is his cake with his candles shaped in his age 27!

We hope you all enjoyed your mothers day weekend as much as we did!

Happy Birthday Lance

Happy Birthday to the most amazing Husband

And Daddy ever!

We love you Lance and hope you enjoy being the big 2-7! Thanks for working so hard for us and still playing hard with us when you get home. Thanks for always being there for us and making us laugh. Thanks for helping Ryland pick up his endless toys and changing his poopie diapers! We couldn't have asked for anyone better than you. You are the best! Love you tons!
HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!
(now hurry and get home from work so we can celebrate!!!) :)

Natalie's Wedding

My sister Natalie got married last Friday, the 30th. It was a great wedding and we were glad to be a part of it. We were lucky to not have much rain that day but it definitely didn't feel like April weather outside. Thanks to my sister in law Maria, I stole this picture off her blog because I am pretty awesome and didn't get a good picture of Natalie and Brett, so thanks!

Here is Lance Ryland and me in our matching reception clothes. Aw....cute!

Love Ryland's tie. He thought it was the worst thing in the world when we put it on him but he quickly forgot about it and wore it the whole night!

Grandkids picture

This is what happened after about 4 pictures. Yep, that would be my child bawling, we were glad we got at least a few pictures!

The newest grandkid addition, Andrew. He is adorable Chris and Maria, congrats!

The original 12 with mom and dad.

The reception. My mom did a AMAZING job at planning this all out and getting it ready to go. We were able to set it all up on thursday and I think it turned out great. My mom should probably do this for a living....she is that good!

Congratulations Natalie and Brett, we hope you enjoy your new married adventure together. We love you both!
